What you actually own when you buy through Just2Trade
A price comparison stops at the commission. This page starts after it: whether the trade leaves you holding a security or a contract, whose name that security is registered in, and what the document J2T Services Ltd (Cyprus, CySEC CIF 281/15) publishes says becomes of it if the firm fails.
Which entity and which product this covers
Applies to J2T Services Ltd, the Cypriot entity licensed by CySEC under CIF 281/15, whose Terms and Conditions (revision 22.07.2026) are the document quoted below. Those terms oblige the company to have purchased securities registered in the relevant register at the client's expense, and separately permit it to hold them in omnibus accounts with third parties on a fungible basis. They contain no clause placing client securities outside the company's own estate if it fails; the only protection named is membership of the Investor Compensation Fund. Whether this entity also sells contracts for difference on shares was not established — its own documents name no equity-CFD product and no clause denying one.
Do you own real shares when you buy through Just2Trade?
A real security — but not one registered in your name. J2T Services Ltd (Cyprus, CySEC CIF 281/15) holds client investments through a nominee or custodian, pooled in an omnibus account together with other clients. You are the beneficial owner: the shares are yours rather than the firm's, but they are not separately identifiable as yours in the register.
“The Company reserves the right and the Client acknowledges the Company's right to keep the Client's monetary funds and financial instruments in omnibus accounts opened with third parties on a fungible basis.”
What happens to your holdings if Just2Trade fails?
Here is what J2T Services Ltd (Cyprus, CySEC CIF 281/15) says in its own document, in its own words — including the part that qualifies it.
“In cases specified in the Law, if the Company is unable to fulfill its obligations under these Terms and Conditions, retail Clients have a right to receive compensation from the above mentioned Fund.”
The counterweight in the same document
“In the event of the insolvency or any other analogous proceedings in relation to that third party, the Company may only have an unsecured claim against the third party on behalf of the Client, and the Client will be exposed to the risk that the money received by the Company from the third party is insufficient to satisfy the claims of the Client with claims in respect of the relevant account.”
Can a loss at Just2Trade follow you past your balance?
Yes. J2T Services Ltd (Cyprus, CySEC CIF 281/15) does not provide negative balance protection, so a gap through your stop can leave you owing the broker money.
