What you will actually be trading in at XTB
Screenshots age faster than anything else a broker publishes, so this page ignores them and keeps four things that decide how the account feels to use: which terminals XTB Limited (UK, FCA FRN 522157) supports, whether a program can drive it, which orders you can place, and whether the demo you learn on runs out. It is the only page here re-read every month rather than every quarter.
Which entity this line-up belongs to
Applies to the UK entity, which its own help centre writes as "XTB (UK) Limited". Two things here changed recently enough that most comparisons still have them wrong: MetaTrader 4 was removed from this entity on 15 March 2024, with existing MT4 accounts moved to xStation, and API access was discontinued on 14 March 2025 — so no automated strategy can be run against this account at all. Order types are taken from §14.1 of the terms of business; a trailing stop exists but the broker documents it as a setting on a stop loss rather than as an order type, and states it is unavailable for Organized Market Instruments. The broker writes "xStation platform" in prose; the "5" appears only in the platform URL.
Which trading platforms does XTB support?
Only its own: xStation (web), XTB mobile app (iOS, Android). Everything you learn here stays here — the layout, the hotkeys and the order tickets are XTB Limited (UK, FCA FRN 522157)'s alone, and none of it carries over if you move brokers.
- xStation (web)
- XTB mobile app (iOS, Android)
“XTB offers its own trading platform that enables convenient and intuitive investing across a wide range of financial markets. The XTB platform is available: in a web-based version (no installation required), as a mobile application for iOS and Android devices. Unsupported platforms: XTB does not currently offer access to MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms.”
Does XTB offer API access?
No. XTB Limited (UK, FCA FRN 522157) states no programmatic access, so anything automated has to run through the terminal itself.
“API access is no longer available. The service was discontinued on March 14, 2025. We encourage you to use the XTB web platform or mobile app, which provide full access to all trading features.”
Order types XTB lists
- market order
- instant order ("direct deal")
- limit order (buy limit, sell limit, take profit)
- stop order (buy stop, sell stop, stop loss)
“Depending on the type of the Account or the type of Financial Instrument the following Order types can be placed by You: a) market Order at a current price of a Financial Instrument published in the Account. b) instant Order "direct deal" at a current price of a Financial Instrument published in the Account; c) limit Order to execute a Transaction (buy limit; sell Limit; take profit "t/p"); d) stop Order to execute a Transaction (buy stop; sell stop; stop loss "s/l").”
Does XTB have a demo account, and does it expire?
Yes, and XTB Limited (UK, FCA FRN 522157) states no expiry on it. A demo that stays open is worth more than it looks: it is where you find out what the terminal does badly, at no cost.
“No expiry date: Your demo account will remain active for the duration of your agreement with XTB. Demo accounts can only be opened through the XTB mobile app. One demo account per client. Demo accounts can only be opened in GBP, and the account currency cannot be changed.”
